Papplewick Boat Section

Papplewick Pumping Station - Model Boat Section

PPS Model Boat Section is a group of Association members who enjoy building and sailing model ships and boats.

We usually meet up on Sundays throughout the year to sail the models on the large pond at PPS, which has good access all the way round, and is fairly sheltered.

The models owned and operated by members are all radio controlled and vary from submarines, fishing boats, patrol boats, tugs and large scale vessels to yachts and scale sailing boats.
Boats powered by IC engines are not permitted on the pond.

A small boat shed is used to house some marker buoys, frequency pegboard and other associated model boating items, and a ‘rescue dinghy’ is also available.

Weather permitting, during Steaming Events, the Model Boat Section organise a static display of models, as well as sailing on the pond.

Several of the members have a wealth of modelling knowledge and experience, gained over many years, and will be happy to share it with newcomers to the hobby.
