Weddings & Civil Ceremonies at Papplewick Pumping Station

The Venue

Set in tranquil countryside Papplewick Pumping Station is one of Europe’s great Industrial Monuments and a shining example of Victorian engineering that will provide a unique setting to your wedding or civil ceremony.

Most couples choose the wonderfully ornate Engine House for the location of their ceremony. However, you may hire the Tarbottan Room or the Old Board Room as alternative locations.

The Engine House can seat approximately 25 people on the Packing Flat floor where the ceremony will be conducted. You can if you wish invite additional guests to stand below on the Engine floor.

The Old Board Room can accommodate 15 to 20 people seated and has views across the Cooling Pond and grounds.

The Tarbottan Room is our smallest room and can seat approximately 12 people.

Please note that you can have an all standing or partially seated ceremony if you wish to accommodate more guests to your wedding or ceremony.

The grounds and architectural splendour of the Pumping Station can be used as a stunning backdrop for photographs, especially the Engine House both inside and out, the Par Terre lawn and the Cooling Pond.
It is an ideal setting for drinks and canapés.

The ceremony package

The full hire of the site for your civil wedding ceremony comprises the use of:

• The Engine House or Old Board Room or Tarbottan Room
• Exclusive 2 hour use of the grounds and Engine House interior for photographs
• Seating & ceremony table
• Tables for champagne & canapés if requested

The full cost for the ceremony package is £650.
A booking fee of £350 is required to confirm your booking.
